Company history
Bigger Steel Limited began in 2018 as a hardware business in Ongata Rongai. What carried it through the difficult first years of a new company was the persistence of its owners – and the market has since made room for us.
Today we manufacture rather than only resell. We are expanding in both directions along the steel supply chain – backwards into production, forwards into distribution – so that contractors and fabricators can get steel and general hardware from one place, made to a specification we control.
We work with both locally sourced and imported material. Which one goes into an order is decided by what the specification needs, not by what is cheapest to hand.

Our teams
Two teams, with different jobs. It is worth knowing which one to ask.
Team 01
Runs the plant and answers for what comes off it. Their job is that the product meets the standard it was sold against – which means checking material coming in as well as product going out.
We take no shortcut. Quality is the driver.
Team 02
Handles quotes, specifications and delivery. If you are not certain what gauge or coating a job needs, this is the team to describe it to – advising properly costs us nothing and saves you a wasted order.
The base of this business is repeat customers.
Driving force
Our directors and employees measure success by the satisfaction of the people who work here and the people who buy from us – not by the margin alone.
So we are deliberate about marking milestones, however small, and about rewarding the effort that produced them. The aim is a place of work that brings out the best in people and where everyone is heard.
That is not sentiment for its own sake. The people running the line are the reason a repeat order matches the one before it, and staff who are treated well stay long enough to know your specification without being told twice.
We are still expanding along the steel supply chain in both directions – further into manufacturing, and further into distribution – so that a contractor can source steel and general hardware from one supplier who answers for the specification.
